Drinking From a Fire Hose
It has been a crazy few days here at the MTC, and it's crazy
that it's only been a few days. Feels like I've been here a week. My district
and I have decided that this is what we imagine spirit prison to feel like. So
please, got to the temple and do some work!
My companion is Sister Peck! She's from Texas, going to
serve in Logan Utah and has one of the strongest testimonies I've heard. She is
super outgoing, and always makes sure that we sit next to new Elders or sisters
every meal. So I'm making friends fast. We both have a goal to do some form of
exercise every day, but we both hate running so I know that God put us together
for a reason.
there are 8 people in my district including me, four elders,
four sisters. for everyone wondering, Elder Jones is in my district and he was
just made District Leader last night. Sister Peck and I are the only two in the
branch without callings, which is nice because I'm stressed out enough as it
is.
The first night here was absolutely nuts. We got put into
some rooms with about 35-40 missionaries in each room. then they told us we
would be meeting our first investigator. That freaked me out because we are
just babies! The first one we met was Jackie, she was an old woman that reminded
me a lot of my residents at Harmony. Just old, tiny, and sweet. Old people, are
my people. She had a lot of great questions about our church and it was really
awesome to know what we would be doing with Investigators. we didn't talk with
her for very long, but the spirit that was there and the love we felt for her
was like drinking out of a fire hose. So strong, it just blew me away.
I have to add this here because it was too dang funny. this
old lady in the session this morning stood up to help us out, and totally
farted. Everyone just kinda ignored it, but it was super funny. Old people, are
my people. And boy, do I miss my people.
We met our second teacher yesterday. we walked into class
and there were two sisters, and they were like, "Brother Winstanely is
gonna be a little late so we're here to get you started." So we learn we
are going to be teaching an investigator with just our companion, and they show
us this video of this guy and some questions he has. He literally looked like
Justin Bieber, and a few of the sisters commented on it, and we all laughed. So,
after everyone is finished teaching him, Brother Winstanely walks in, and it's
the investigator we just taught! it was super awkward and really funny.
Today is the first day of Lighting the World! got watch the
videos if you haven't already, they're really great and give you some great
ideas! today is all about gratitude. Show or tell someone you're thankful for
them! I wrote a note to Sister Peck last night. It was a lot of fun. Please try
to do something nice for people everyday! You never know what that might do for
them.
I hope you all have a really amazing day! I'm gonna go get
lost around campus some more!
I LOVE YOU TONS
-Sister Rogel
